Upcoming Event: The 2016 Seattle Wine & Food Experience - February 20th & 21st, 2016

Oh it’s a new year in Seattle and you know what that means?! The Seattle Wine & Food Experience (SWFE) is once again almost upon us! That’s right folks, the deliciousness of Jamie Peha’s signature annual event is just around the corner. In true SWFE fashion, this year’s event is bigger and better than ever with more than 200 vendors lining the aisles at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall on Sunday February 21st from 12-5pm (VIP) and 1-5pm (GA). POP! Bubbles and Seafood also returns for its second year, this time held in the elegant McCaw Hall on Saturday evening February 20th from 6-9pm.

POP! Bubbles & Seafood

As the name suggests, this event has classy and sophisticated all over it, but without the snobby price tag. POP! is presented by Seattle Magazine and brings together some of Seattle’s finest seafood restaurants under one roof. Picture glorious plates of salmon, clams, oysters and shrimp, served side by side with sips from more than 40 sparkling wines from around the world. Bubbles not your thing? Then pair your seafood with cold beer, chilled cider or refreshing white wines.

  • 16 of Seattle’s best chefs
  • Reserve Red Room
  • The Oyster Room
  • Seattle Caviar
  • Specialty Cocktails & Beer

Seattle Wine & Food Experience Grand Tasting

The Seattle Wine & Food Experience is a deluxe showcase for wine, beverage, food and lifestyly in the Northwest. Wines from our local area and beyond are featured along with regional beer, cider and spirits. Unlike other beverage tasting events that may just have a small selection of food on the side, SWFE is a very food focused event. I mean, just look at the line-up of chefs and what they will be preparing for the event! I can personally attest to this being one of my favorite food events of the year due to the selection and quality of items served.

This year’s featured wine region is Washington’s Yakima Valley, which is home to many well known and quality wines (and sparkling wines!). The wine goodness continues with wineries from WashingtonOregonCalifornia and beyond the US of A pouring their goods at this year’s event. Behold this year’s tasting line-up and start preparing your plan of attack now!

One of the fun things about SWFE is the “experiences” that come along with the event as a whole. Just a few of them include:

Ste Michelle Riesling Challenge - Take the “Riesling Challenge” and determine which wine pleases your palate – Dry, Off Dry or Sweet. I bet you didn’t even know there were different types of riesling, did you?

You Say Potato! - Celebrate the potato! Kaspar’s Catering joins up with the Washington Potato Commission to present new recipes at the annual potato bar. This has always been a favorite stop for me at past year’s events!

The Wine SchoolWashington vs. The World - Northwest Wine Academy leads the way to your educational experience at SWFE. Headed up by wine experts Regina Daigneault and Lenny Rede, stop by and blind taste specially selected wines and walk away feeling like a wine expert!

Distillery Walk - Take a stroll through Distillery Walk featuring many of the region’s craft spirits makers as well as global brands. Find new favorites and taste new cocktail recipes too.

QFC Advantage Reserve Lounge - Guests enjoy specially selected reserve wines poured by knowledgeable QFC wine stewards including selections from Browne Family Vineyards, Canoe Ridge Vineyards, Intrinsic Wines Co., Tenet Wines, Waterbrook Winery and more!

SWFE benefits Les Dames d'Escoffier Seattle, a 501c3 non-profit organization of women leaders in food, beverage and hospitality whose mission is education, advocacy, and philanthropy. Les Dames d'Escoffier Seattle focuses on raising funds for scholarships for women in the culinary, beverage, and hospitality industries, and also supports community-outreach programs and sustainable-agriculture projects based in Washington State

Tickets for the Grand Tasting are just $60 for General Admission and $75 for VIP. Make a weekend it and buy a Weekend Pass to attend both POP! Bubbles and Seafood and the SWFE Grand Tasting for just $140. Don’t miss out on this truly incredible event that showcases some of our area’s finest food and beverage!
